BREAKING NEWS FROM KABA:SAF's Workman Says Riley Backing Down From Gun Confiscation Threat

Comment by: Dave Workman (6/5/2006)
Bulletin:

I've just learned from SAF/NRA attorney that, *coincidentally* after SAF announced it was filing a complaint against Riley with the Department of Justice, Riley withdrew the threat on live radio about 30 minutes ago.

I'll be reporting the details in Gun Week.

We're the Only Ones Interrogative Enough

An elder from Elcho Island has accused two Northern Territory police officers of holding a loaded gun to the head of a teenager suspected of stealing...The elder says the officers repeatedly threatened to kill the 19-year-old if he did not tell them where the money was.

The teenager says police then warned him not to tell anyone what had happened.
Y'see, it's like Prime Minister John Howard says:
I don’t think people should have guns unless they’re police or in the military or in the security industry. There is no earthly reason for people to have...ordinary citizens should not have weapons.

No Plan to Disarm Texans

Gun-toting Texans can relax about one concern this hurricane season: The state has no plans to disarm residents in the wake of a big storm.
What a difference a state line makes.

We're the Only Ones' Darling Little Girls

The Rensselaer County Sheriff's Department released information to The Record Friday about the arrest three adults and a juvenile for breaking into the Schaghticoke home of veteran Troy Police Officer Rick Schoonmaker in April and stealing seven guns...One of those arrested was Schoonmaker's 19-year-old daughter Deborah, who lives in her father's home...

Last year, Patricia Goldston, the 21-year-old daughter of Officer Colleen Goldston, was arrested for hindering prosecution after her boyfriend stole two guns, including the officer's service revolver.
Maybe we need laws forbidding police from taking their weapons home with them...?

Keep Yer Hands Off My Guns

I guess that's the way elitists over at The Economist imply American gun owners are a bunch of slack-jawed Deliverance hicks.

It is nice to see Wayne LaPierre finally promoting the gun control/genocide connection, especially since Aaron Zelman has been urging NRA to do so for years.

Connecticut's Strict Gun Laws Aren't Foolproof

I guess not.

They never work, but fools keep proposing more of them.

This Day in History: June 5

On this day in 1723, Adam Smith, future author of The Wealth of Nations (1776), a critique of the mercantilist model of trade in the British empire, is baptized in Kirkcaldy, Scotland.

"Clear Signals"

Vin Suprynowicz comments on New Orleans gun confiscations, our old pal Lee Paige, Democrat posturing, and the profoundly stupid (and thus wildly popular) TV series "Law and Order."
