A Moment for the History Books

Now that's funny.

All Things Considered

He has made an extraordinary gesture to conservatives and the party base, offering his old antagonists a partner's share in his presidency...

For should this ticket win, Palin will eclipse every other Republican as heir apparent to the presidency and will have her own power base...

Legitimate factors to consider in the mix...

Too Late?

Western Rifle Shooters Association reintroduces an essay by Billy Beck.

We're the Only Ones Malignant Enough

CANCER LED EX-COP TO ROB: PALS
Yeah, plus the devil made him do it.

He's not the "Only One" to fight the disease. That excuse-making for evil is an insult to everyone who has fought cancer or lost a loved one to it and did not go on a "Bling Bandit" terror spree, that is, to just about everybody else.

We're the Only Ones Not Working Enough

For almost two years, a Fort Lauderdale police officer has collected a paycheck, pension and benefits — at $110,249 a year.

He has done no work.
On the bright side, he has also done no harm...well, aside from ripping off the tax cows for a cool quarter million. But considering some of the "Only Ones" stories we've chalked up, they may be getting off cheap...

Neat, Personable, Chatty and Helpful!

The kinder, gentler BATFU.

Don't Mix Tactics with Strategy

I suspect that Kanelis has relatively little knowledge about the tactical use of firearms for self-defense. I train lots of people here in Montana (especially men) who think that by virtue of breathing in Montana air they have pretty well gotten what there is to know about firearm use.
Go get 'em, Gary Marbut! Yeah!

My kids would wince at Dad trying to sound cool, but I agree with commentator Brandon:
Mr. Kanelis, you just got pwned.

We're the Only Ones "Blessed are the Peacemakers" Enough

The Richland County, South Carolina Sheriff's Department...just obtained an armored personnel carrier, complete with a belt-fed, .50-cal turreted machine gun. Sheriff Leon Lott has charmingly named the vehicle "The Peacemaker," and insists that using a caliber of ammunition that even the U.S. military is reluctant to use against human targets (it's generally reserved for use against armored vehicles) will "save lives."

I think when "Only Ones" have them they're called "patrol vehicles."

Yo, Leon: Why the need for "weapons of war"?

Experience Life in Kenmore

Police say Buchtel teacher has arsenal in house

Officers arrest 50-year-old man after finding guns, explosives. Kenmore neighbors are shocked...

"Police hit the jackpot. I stopped counting after 18 shotguns"...

Prewitt said she watched as officers also confiscated what she described as grenades from the home of Benjamin B. Terril, 50, a Buchtel High School science teacher. Terril is in the Summit County Jail on charges of possessing explosive materials, carrying a concealed weapon, having weapons under disability and drug abuse.

I'm still trying to figure out why the hysterics. And what's the legal definition of "arsenal"?

Were they live grenades or those dummy desktop decorations people seem to get in so much trouble over?

Were the "explosive materials" gunpowder containers for reloading, or something a science teacher would have, or even common household chemicals?

You can't have a gun on your person on your own property/in your own home?

And if you have guns in your home you may not drink? (Which, you know is the next "logical" step after bar bans.)

We need to separate the actual conduct, which doesn't sound too bright, from the hand-wringing, that is, SOP when writing about guns by the "Authorized Journalists" at the Akron Leakin' Urinal.

And so much for cooperating with the "Only Ones" and being "a good citizen." He invited the vampire to cross his threshold and they brought in BATFU to make a federal case out of it.

If they pull out the duct tape and chains, he's cooked.

There's an Analogy in Here Somewhere

"I thought I was doing the right thing"...
No, you felt you were doing the right thing. There's a difference.

And boy, what a mess we're in because of it.
