Campaign Hypocrisy on Guns? From Ohio Democrats?

“The truth is,” the state gun rights group points out, “that the only thing SB184 changed regarding schools was about the ability for concealed handgun license-holders to pick up or drop off their child from a designated point on school property.”

Seems reasonable. These citizens have a right to keep and bear arms, and citizens in compliance with SB184 are the most peaceable in the state. And it's not like those intent on evil will be stopped by mere rules. So if you’re not projecting your own ignorance and trust issues, what’s the problem?

Today's Gun Rights Examiner column is up. Please share it with your friends.

We're the Only Ones Who Don't Know the Rules Enough

“I didn’t think a thing about it because I hadn’t read that law book,” said Rambo. “Hell, I don’t know all the rules.”
Yeah, nobody told me slavery was illegal. I mean, it's not like the Constitution is mandatory reading in "Only Ones" school.

Not that we'd give you a break if we busted you for something and you told us you hadn't read that law book.

Good grief. Do "we" really give people this stupid and arrogant power over us?

Vanderboegh: Unleashing the Killer Angels

Barack, and his killer angels, cometh.

Get ready to face them.

Mike Vanderboegh steels us to face the coming darkness.

Hope Through Whiskey

That always works for me.

This is actually an analysis of this essay. Read them both.

And I'm delighted to see the word "culturist" being promoted. I've used it myself in the past, in the sense that some cultures are better at producing freedom, opportunity, choice and technology than others. I didn't realize there was a nascent movement to promote the concept, and will need to learn more.

OFF the List

Tim is the president of TNW Firearms in Vernonia. Tim's a gun dealer, a firearms importer, a sponsor of full auto shoots and a member of OFF. But for some reason, NRA has chosen not to even list him as a candidate on their website.
I think we know the reason. It's just considered bad form in some circles to bring it up.

It Only Makes Sense

LAPD Chief Bratton’s Shameful Obama Endorsement
Why the surprise? The guy's been a career gungrabber/tyranny enabler.

He just wants to make sure the new management knows that.

There was Jeff Cooper, a Giant...

...and then there's Mini-Cooper:
Dan Cooper, a proud member of the National Rifle Association, has backed Republicans for most of his life. He's the chief executive of Cooper Arms, a small Montana company that makes hunting rifles...

This year, Cooper has given $3,300 to the campaign of Democrat Barack Obama. That's on top of the $1,000 check he wrote to Obama's U.S. Senate campaign in 2004, after he was dazzled by Obama's speech at that year's Democratic National Convention.
"Dazzled."

Capitalists will provide the rope.

Now it seems like they're trying to distance the company from its owner (and make excuses for him):
Regarding the USA Today Article. Cooper Firearms of Montana, Inc. did not contribute and does not support in any fashion the campaign of Senator Obama.

Nine months ago Dan Cooper (personally) made an online donation to the campaign in an effort to help defeat Hillary Clinton and in protest of American plant closures and the shipping of jobs overseas. Three months ago he made yet another donation to the McCain campaign and the RNC totaling over twice that given to Obama campaign.

There is no doubt that the article in USA Today has caused a considerable response. To this end we are encouraged and stand with our fellow NRA members and supporters of the Second Amendment and against those who oppose it.
Blah, blah, blah...I'm not buying it, or any of Dan's products (personally).

UPDATE: Check out the reaction from the blogs. Mr. Cooper, I believe you just did for your company what Lee Paige did for his foot.

UPDATE: Mike Vanderboegh sends Cooper Firearms a message:
re: Ain't buying your excuses or your firearms

Dear Collectivist Lackeys,

Here's to let you know that, regardless of your attempt to distance yourselves from your warm embrace of the most anti-firearm presidential candidate in the history of this country, it won't wash and it won't wear. Lenin said that the capitalists would sell them the rope by which the Bolsheviks would hang them. He wasn't wrong, as we see from your cynical boot-licking of the present standard bearer of the Marxist brand.

Your endorsement of the man who will strip you of your firearms rights merely means that you will be among the last to be herded onto the boxcars -- a dubious distinction at best.

As for me, I am going to encourage all my shooting buddies to boycott you boot-licking jerks. You thought Smith and Wesson had troubles? Of course, maybe you're counting on government contracts to offset the outrage? Selling out your birthright for a mess of pottage is not new in history. It is however almost universally despised and for good reason. Enjoy your 15 seconds of Democrat Socialist fame. In the end, it will buy you nothing.

What Could Go Wrong?

Mayor Daley predicted today that more than a million people would descend on Grant Park for Barack Obama’s election night “celebration”...
Sounds like a perfect opportunity to...uh...galvanize public opinion, doesn't it?

We’ll Get it Down Next Year

Mayor Daley said today he’s “not proud” of the fact that Chicago is the homicide capital of the nation, but he said the slayings of Jennifer Hudson’s mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew could not have been prevented.
Of course they could have been. I notice nobody coming in and doing this to your family, mayor. Why do you suppose that is?

We’ll get it down next year. We’ll get it down. We’ll do things differently.
Anticipating the Age of the Lightworker, are we?

We may, indeed, "get it down."

We're the Only Ones Culling Enough

Delaware State Police stopped Alvina Vansickle from purchasing a .22-caliber pistol for self-defense because she was too old and a woman, said Superintendent Col. Thomas MacLeish.
Perhaps someone should take away Col. MacLeish's gun because he's too presumptuous and stupid?

Yes, they in fact should:
The outrage that followed led to the revelation that Delaware State Police had been keeping lists of gun buyers for years; state law requires them to destroy these records after 60 days.
Sounds to me like "Only One" Tom--and anyone who helped him break the law--belongs behind bars. And is that an SS uniform he's wearing in the sidebar picture?

Weren't they also instrumental in helping the state weed out group-based undesirables?

A Crime Prevention Expert

To help slow gun violence, Miami Valley officials are bringing in a big gun.

David M. Kennedy, whose work with the Boston Gun Project in the mid-1990s drastically reduced gun violence in that city and inspired similar successful initiatives elsewhere, will visit the area Thursday, Oct. 30.
Boston?

Uh...I don't suppose your plans would involve allowing people to protect themselves, would it Mr. Kennedy?

By the way, I don't suppose you could name just one person who was going to be murdered but then wasn't because of your "successful initiatives"?
