Showdown Under the Big Sky

I just posted a second Gun Rights Examiner column today to feature a development in Montana that should be of interest to us all. [More]

Please help spread the link around...

A Somewhat Regulated Militia is Better than None

The town's three policemen fled and there was no response from the military and U.N. peacekeepers to the increasingly panicked pleas for help. That's when residents realized they were on their own.

...So Akoyo called a town meeting and told everyone to bring whatever weapons they had: pre-World War II rifles, homemade shotguns, lances, swords, machetes, hunting knives, bows with sheaths of poisoned arrows.

...Since then, the residents of Bangadi have successfully driven off two attacks by the Ugandan rebels, who have killed at least 900 people in this remote northeastern corner of Congo over the past seven weeks. [More]
So much for counting on either "Only Ones" or globalist gungrabbers.

I'd like to see Paul Helmke, Rebecca Peters, et al issue a statement condemning these people.

I dare them to.

We're the Only Ones Hitting on the Ladies Enough

Last year’s police officer of the year for Orange County was arrested Friday night, accused of hitting a female acquaintance... [More]
There's a particularly poor taste joke that's been around for many years:

Q: What do battered women have in common?

A: (While shaking head and with an disgusted look) They just don't listen.

I bring it up because that attitude seems to apply to so many cases of "Only One" violence resulting in their beating a detainee, yet the same intense social stigma is rarely attached.

I'm no sociologist, but it sure looks like our culture has a dysfunctional relationship with and dependency on its abusers...

An Order of Protection

Authorities say Aasiya Hassan recently had filed for divorce from her husband.

"She had an order of protection that had him out of the home as of Friday the 6th [of February]," Benz said. [More]
So she was beheaded.

Boy, that order worked about as well as hubby's "more positive light," didn't it...?

Dismissing an Unfounded Fear

The New York Times is reporting that, due to our military being stretched to its limits in Afghanistan and Iraq, the US Military will start recruiting immigrant workers who have temporary visas the opportunity to become citizens, in as little as 6 months. [More]

Good. Then we can dismiss the ridiculous notion that our standing army would ever take up arms against their relatives, neighbors and friends...

We're the Only Ones Keeping You Safe Enough

"It is with great hope that we can put a gun lock on every gun to keep kids and the families safe."[More]
Every gun. Except for your super-special "Only One" gun, right, Vernotis?

We're the Only Ones Bursting Enough

A lawsuit filed in Circuit Court that seeks $200,000 says two Chattanooga Police officers burst into the wrong house with guns drawn.

...It says the couple was held at gunpoint while the home was searched, placing them, their children, their spouses, nephews, nieces and grandchildren "in mortal fear."

The suit says, the officers left "after realizing they had made a mistake." [More]
What do you think would have happened had Mr. Brady grabbed a gun and repelled the errant "Only Ones," thinking they might be home invaders?

Oh, right...

Don't Think of Us as "Anti-Gun"

Think of us as pro-police state. [More]

I've said this before. One way to discourage this practice of newspapers publishing CCW holder names is to target their advertisers. Let them know you're going to pick one of them to drag into the controversy. Set up a protest in front of a car dealership, and then promise another advertiser they're targeted for next week. The message being "XYZ Supports Anti-Gun Subversion."

You'll see change.

That is, you would if gun owners actually gave a damn about getting involved. Hell, if they did, we wouldn't have any gun control laws.

The other option, of course, is to say the hell with permits. Just so you realize the same gun owners who won't join you in a boycott or any constructive peaceable activity will then condemn you for making us all look bad if you get caught, and bloviate on the gun boards about your deserving what you get...

Still More Election Coverage...

No, not for political offices. It's nearing that time of year when eligible members (Life and above, or members for five consecutive years) get to elect candidates for the NRA Board of Directors.

But there's a problem. [More]
You knew there would be.

Also in today's Gun Rights Examiner post:
  • Len Savage on Lou Dobbs Radio. Find out how and when to listen.
  • A call to action in Arizona...some gun bills need to get moving.
  • Guess who the new Columbia Conservative Examiner is?
Anyway, click on the title link, and spread it far and wide to help me feed feral sons Uday and Qusay their meager daily crust of bread. It's cheaper than a tip jar, and you may just find the experience worthwhile.
