We're the Only Ones Valorous Enough

I guess that was why Sheriff Lee Baca bestowed the Medal of Valor on me; certainly, it accounts for the numerous other awards and commendations during my tenure with the department. [More]
That's funny--we were just talking about medals and awards.

I get taken to task in comments by the guy who longed for the good old days when cops could administer "street justice."

I had to use Google cache to link to the words he says I misunderstood, because the original page link keeps producing run time errors. Oh well, I'm sure it's just a temporary oversight, but just in case, grab the cache link while it works.

And as for "blowhard," hey, it was the OIR attorney I spoke with who used the term "puffery."

We're the Only Ones Not the Only Ones Enough

Armed with handguns and posing as police, a group of men yesterday invaded three homes in Prince George's County, binding the occupants and demanding money and in one case a flat-screen TV, police said. [More]
So we should submit to dynamic entries by men representing themselves as "Only Ones" why?

Black and White

Akron police say they aren't ready to call it a hate crime... [More]
Think they'd be ready if 50 white kids attacked a black family, shouting "This is our world...This is a white world"?

Think Jesse might perceive a media opportunity?

The hypocrisy is astounding.

We're the Only Ones on the Beat Enough

The Sandwich police officer accused of beating a man so severely he required 37 stitches to his face has a history of threatening the alleged victim...

The alleged victim told police Byrne’s wife is a battered woman, adding that "Byrne is unstable and that he will eventually kill (his wife)." [More]
Sounds like just the type of "Only One" I want having power over me...

We're the Only Ones Vested Enough

“You couple that with a loaded gun and a bullet-proof vest and you have someone feeling invincible and pointing the gun at innocent people in the street,” Koerbel said. [More]
"Only One" irony...

We're the Only Ones Not Charged Enough

No charges will be filed against the Carter Lake police chief who accidentally shot a police sergeant Wednesday at the police station, the Pottawattamie County attorney said today. [More]
Well of course not. And no charges should be filed because:
[T]he gun went off.
How many times have we seen that before?

What, you didn't think I was going to say it's because the chief is an "Only One," and gets special treatment for shooting cops that would not be afforded you and I, did you?

A video is here.

Joe's Crabby Shack has more.

Think we should send the chief an award...or at least a medallion?

We're the Only Ones Location, Location, Location Enough

The Los Feliz home of L.A. Police Chief William J. Bratton and his wife, Rikki Klieman, has come on the Multiple Listing Service at $1,875,000. [More]
I guess that explains the ritzy box lunches.

Pretty nice digs for an "Only One." I wonder if he'd accept an IOU?

We're the Only Ones Cum Ulla Sella in Pugna Taberna* Enough

The New Orleans Police Department's own internal investigation into a high-profile 2008 bar fight between off-duty officers and city transit workers found that five of its officers broke police conduct rules and then lied to investigators, with at least one officer coercing a civilian witness to lie about the incident...[More]
Because the "Only Ones" are more in control of themselves than we are.

Ammunition Law Shows Gun Owners Must Act Locally

The battles aren't all fought at the state and national level. Ironically, the ones most of us ignore are the ones we have the most control over. [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner looks at the importance of being on guard against local attacks on our rights.

I wish I could say you're not going to believe the character who introduced the ordinance, but sadly, his type is all too familiar to WoG regulars.

Also get the latest from my fellow GREs.

This Day in History: July 10

British General Richard Prescott captured in Rhode Island [More]
Huh. Our source yesterday said July 9. I guess that's when they set out and they captured him after midnight.
