The True Cause of the Ft. Hood Massacre

Guns, silly.

What, you thought it might be something else?

Kurt Hofmann quotes straight from the Imam.

We're the Only Ones...

...Settling Up Enough

...Contradicted Enough

...Sticky-Fingered Enough

...Bulked Up Enough

...Data Mining Enough

...Making a Killing Enough

...Making Withdrawals Enough

...Giving Repeat Business Enough

...Who Really Know How to Treat a Lady Enough

...Fishers of Men Enough

...Teaching Teens the Beat Enough

...Color-Coordinating Enough

...Cutting Back on Greenhouse Gases Enough

...Crash-Testing Enough

...Leaving the Scene Enough

...Backing Our Employees Enough

This is a sample of what I come across every day. I could give them each their own post, but as I've said ad nauseum, I don't want to lose complete focus here, and besides, I'm terrified of being accused of "denigrating law enforcement."

Suffice it to say these are the "Only Ones" that many say are to be trusted with guns. If you and I try it, well, perhaps we can be useful in arranging for some time off...

We're the Only Ones Who Are Great Guys Enough

We few, we happy few, we band of brothers...

Well, there we have it--a police union official's definition of a "good cop."

Gee, with a character reference like that, it's almost enough to overlook that he ripped you guys off for >$75K.

Does 90 days and 3 years probation sound like something a non-"Only One" would get for embezzling a similar sum?

Vegas Cop Could Be Charged; Son Accidentally Shoots Self [More]
I've posted on stories before about an officer's child shooting himself with an unsecured gun. I don't put these under a flippant "Only Ones" title because that would just be wrong. I can't imagine the guilt and anguish this father is going through, nor how any decent human soul could survive it.

I also don't know what further punishment the state could mete out that would make any difference.

That said, there are sociopaths who wouldn't let it bother them, or would blame the child. And there are fools and opportunists who will blame the gun. I recall one story of some moron who kept an unconfined python that killed his child and he blamed the snake.

And, of course, there is the very real fact that non-LEOs have been prosecuted.

My prayers go out to the child and his parents.

The guards, who are trained not to get involved in physical confrontations, stood by as the girl was beaten, kicked and robbed. [More]
I'd say they executed their training flawlessly.

Funny. With all the blame-apportioning going on, I don't see any acknowledgment that rendering human beings defenseless renders them...uh...defenseless. [Read]
