Prosecutors fight Reese motion to vacate felony convictions on gun sales

The crux of the government's arguments revolve around testimony of Jose Roman, a member of La Linea, the enforcement arm of the Mexican Juarez cartel trying to save his own skin. As this column reported two years ago, when it noted “Records don’t back witness for the prosecution in Reese gun case,” Roman has been a career criminal since the age of 17, smuggling illegal aliens, guns and drugs, and who has been offered a plea deal in exchange for testimony. Significantly, he also admitted on the witness stand that he had provided false statements while making firearms purchases from the Reese’s gun shop. [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner report notes doubts are more than reasonable when the foundation is built on lies by government liars.

No I don't.

One can only marvel at the situational witlessness of those who applauded.  No doubt they'd clap and cheer like hell for demands to disarm American gun owners.

When you hear polls telling you how Americans overwhelmingly want background checks, useful idiettes are among the ones who have the strongest uninformed opinions.

California Dreamin'

If you're from there and not helping Tom McClintock, all I can think of is that Little Red hen story where all the animals wanted to eat the bread, but none wanted to help plant, harvest and grind the wheat, and make and bake it.

Besides, when has it ever been in the public interest to provide, rather than withhold, descriptions of criminals on the loose who pose demonstrable public threats?

I guess Opposite Day racism never occurs to "progressive" real reporters.  It's not like who the main victims are makes any difference when you have an agenda to fulfill and sins of omission to commit.

As long as we're going down the public health hazard route as justification to enact laws the government is empowered to financially destroy, imprison or kill you for defying, why hasn't the CDC done a peer-reviewed study on the danger of over-regulation compliance and its attendant financial burden causing stress, which is a known contributor to heart-related disease, injuries and fatalities?

And they say there are no stupid questions.

Bearing in mind the Opposite Day truism, is it any surprise that "progressive" medicine is the most terminal kind?

Save the Predators

Yet the Associated Press reported that Coronado has a history of direct confrontations, including spending four years in prison after setting fire to a Michigan State University animal research laboratory in 1995. [More]
I wonder if that might explain why this convicted felon/prohibited person is against shooting predators...

I'd think a firebug domestic terrorist who thinks it's a good idea to stalk law-observing citizens ought to be wondering at what point people are going to get sick and tired of harassment from lunatics and start stalking back.

I found a website and a Facebook page for Michigan-based Yellowstone Wolf Patrol. What I'm really interested in, especially after noting PETA has funded this mental disorder sufferer, is who is bankrolling him now.  They're not listed on Guidestar, and with the IRS focused on productive people of alternate political beliefs, I'm not holding my breath waiting for anyone "official" to ask why.

GABBY GIFFORDS: BEING VICTIM OF GUN VIOLENCE MEANS 'OPPORTUNITY'[More]
Talk about "progressives" and Opposite Day.

And if we wish to decline the opportunity you're trying to give us all, Gabby and Mark? Because I can think of better ways to increase the likelihood that the only people getting shot are the ones who need it.

Plus, Gabby's way increases the likelihood government guns will be turned on a citizenry that defies orders to disarm. And vice versa. I can also point to her way giving plenty of people the opportunity to be victims of gas violence, and a bunch of other kinds, too.

Oh, but that could never happen here. We're immune, and things will never fundamentally transform that much.

George Zimmerman to break media silence on Armed American Radio

Unknown at this time will be the extent of anticipated reactions by those in the angrily vocal camp against George Zimmerman, notably from personalities like Al Sharpton, and from members of the New Black Panther Party, who in 2012 offered a $10,000 bounty for Zimmerman's capture. It is for reasons of personal safety and security, as well as so the interview does not get disrupted and halted by protesters, that the physical location is being withheld. [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner report announces an upcoming event that is sure to kindle some flames of hatred, and no doubt protests against even allowing this to happen.  Note that, like with another major story we're all familiar with here, it's not the "Authorized Journalists" who earned the trust to get the subject to open up.

Naturally, they refer to "the bungled 'Fast and Furious' gun-running sting operation," without ever questioning where the potential for a sting was. GRPC Update 3

in spite of air problems and several speakers not making it, the room was almost full, with hundreds of attendees. Halbrook talked about his Nazi gun law book. Lott took on the FBI report and flawed reporting.  Lots of awards given out--even I got one.  I give my talk on Authorized Journalists tomorrow morning.

Will have a complete report, probably Monday.

Will be on Gresham's Gun Talk tomorrow afternoon and AAR with Mark Walters tomorrow night.

Venezuela marks International Day of Peace with Orwellian contradiction

This is the ultimate path those who would impose total citizen defenselessness, like all those monopolies that have gone before, would lead us down. That they couch their scheming under banal terms like “common sense gun safety laws” is no matter, because they’ve let slip their end desires too many times, and too many real world examples exist, to ignore they’re playing a game of incremental gains to a deadly end goal. GRPC Update

We're at our hotel, a few miles away from the event.  Heard on the news about the FAA fire debacle closing down Chi-Town air traffic, and am naturally curious to see how badly attendance is hit. Will try to do updates throughout the stay.

Off to GRPC

I'll be leaving for the Gun Rights Policy Conference tomorrow at dawn's early light.  Feral sons Uday and Qusay will be let out of the basement to patrol the premises in my absence, and I'm sure after fighting over the one bowl of kibble I'm leaving them, they'll be ravenous.

I'm told there is still room to accept walk-ins, so if you're anywhere within doable range, there will be plenty of good people there, and plenty of reasons why attending is something all activist gun owners should find a lot of value in, not to mention just a good time.  Click here for more details.

I'll be meeting up with colleagues and friends, doing some interviews, learning from all the speakers, having some fun, and doing a panel on the sorry state of journalism with Dave Workman on Sunday morning.  While I will be taking a laptop, I probably won't be doing much if any blogging or reporting. We'll see.

So please hold off on all comments and emails until Monday?  Because anything I get over the weekend may just need to go unaddressed, so save yourself a useless effort.

Kennedy heir shows ‘progressive’ threats to freedom include more than guns

As an attorney with the finest education from exclusive schools money can buy, Kennedy certainly must be aware that conviction for treason can be punishable by death. Leniency for ‘anti-violence activist’ who took gun to school suggests favoritism

Adding to the dubious nature of the sentence, where Ferguson evidently has avoided a felony conviction and thus becoming a “prohibited person” from owing a gun, is the fact that he was also a committed anti-gun activist, being a big supporter of New York’s SAFE Act, which carries felony criminal penalties for violators. Bear Necessities

John Comeau reminds his Facebook followers of that, and notes it's not so funny when it happens in real life.

I'm glad that when I had my surprise evening black bear encounter years back, I had a gun. I don't claim that's what persuaded it to leave me alone, but I do believe it probably had some bearing on my demeanor, and that could have had the effect of allowing me to draw, take aim, talk gentle and low, slowly back away, and get the kids in the cabin. I'm also pretty happy that when I initially yelled in shock on seeing the thing 20 feet away, it sounded more like a roar and less like a screaming little girl. And I'm delighted that I didn't have to find out if what I had to stop it with would be "enough."

Finding out later two idiot city women had been leaving food scraps for it on the ground and watching from their balcony did not sit well with me at all.  If I had to bet, my money says they'd have been horrified at the thought of a nearby "gun nut."

“So do all the voluntary gun buybacks you want,” the editors conclude. “But until they are mandatory, and our society can see past its hysteria over ‘gun confiscation,’ don't expect it to make much difference.” [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner report notes cultists can't help but share what drives them into eye-rolling frenzy.

That's Big of Him

"We have ensured owners of those guns will not face prosecution," Harper said. [More]
So will any confiscated ones be returned?  And why did Harper cabinet member Steven Blaney feign shock?

By the way, what happens in two years?

We're the Only Ones TotenkopfverbÀnde Enough

Thirty-two guards with the Florida Department of Corrections were fired Friday afternoon in what union officials were calling a “Friday night massacre.” All were accused of criminal wrongdoing or misconduct in connection with the deaths of inmates at four state prisons. [More]

Just Another Opposite Day in Proziland

Right, advocating women claim the choice to empower themselves is bad, as is appreciating feminine beauty. [More]

I guess Mother Jones senior editor Mark Follman must know a thing or two about being a non-masculine object of degradation...

And sorry, troll "readinamazement"-- you offer pretty unorignal and expected fare for a sadist-psychopath / infiltrator-disruptor, right down to anonymously calling other men cowards.

Funny thing about anti-gun males: they rage against guns and accuse men who own them of being inadequate --  yet they know ultimately, they are personally helpless to do anything about their hatred but rail.  In other words, they're furious because they know they're impotent.

Tonight on Armed American Radio

Mark Walters just got in from a road trip and is still putting the lineup together.  So far, he's confirmed Virginia Citizens Defense League President Philip Van Cleave, firearms attorney Kevin Maxwell, Minneapolis talk host Mitch Berg (with an update on the Minnesota State Fair robbery), Paul Valone of Grassroots North Carolina, and yours truly.  He may have one more guest, someone you've heard of, and I'll update this post if I hear it's confirmed before the program.

The Limping Creep

The anti-gun Creep Among the Tombstones' new shoot-em-up isn't doing so well. At this point, it hasn't yet made back half its production costs. [More]

The film is "tracking best with older males," meaning there ought to be a significant number of gun owners in the audience the producers are counting on.

That means there are a significant number of potential ticket buyers we can clue in to why helping this creep get even richer with their money is like giving aid and comfort to the enemy.

We can't do organized boycotts on everything -- but when an easy target of opportunity presents itself, why not take the shot?
