In recent years I've really started to understand the appeal of alcohol, "illegal" drugs, and other methods of numbing the mind against reality. When reality for USians is a government whose maximum limit of nonconsensual authority is that possessed by a single human being's, but nonetheless is filled with agents who treat the very people who are the source of their authority as literal slaves to the point of murdering those who are capable of revealing such rampant criminality... the temptation to become intentionally blind is so strong when compared to the alternatives.

Two- or three-hundred to one against the scummy TARP bailouts which were nonetheless imposed is a perfect illustration among many, many more examples that "the system" is broken beyond repair from within. Aside from collecting proof of criminal acts, making lists of responsible names, obtaining and staging resources, then starting a private defensive war, what other alternatives are left?

Bread and circuses are not something to be proud of partaking in, but I am very hard-pressed to condemn such revellers when they are not the criminals at the root of the problem and when the overwhelmingly vast majority of the so-called freedom-lovers both refuse to recognize that the system cannot be fixed from within the system and are also quick to condemn even those who merely wish to withdraw from the system let alone actually fight back.

I am going to burn this line into my memory for future use. It's succinct, eloquent and absolutely true. It fits perfectly with people that mock California, not realizing that crap flows downhill (or in this case, west to east).
