Nine Lives Had Elfego Baca

... an intense gun battle in which law enforcement unleashed more than 500 rounds. [More]
There's an "Only Ones" title in there somewhere, but the amount of ammo expended reminded me more of a post I saw the other day that in turn made me recall the TV of my youth, back before Disney was totally corrupted.

Anybody else remember this?

There's a lesson here, also. The out of control 'Only Ones' lynch mob firing 4000 rounds and using a few sticks of dynamite couldn't beat a man of God with nothing but two loaded six guns, a cartridge belt of ammo and a cool head.

When I grow up, I want to be just like Elfego Baca (and have a sweetie as hot as his is, too!).

From the article, "Normand told reporters that law enforcement had "every opportunity" to kill Garcie. "That's not what we wanted to do," he added. "We wanted to bring this to a successful conclusion by trying to talk him out of this particular situation.""

I call BS on LE not trying to kill the perp. Firing 500 rounds is akin to having a friendly conversation, huh?

And it sounds like they need to work on their marksmanship.

Thanks for the Disney Baca piece. Good times.

Definitely a man to be reckoned with, wasn't he?

While of course fictionalized and romanticized, the writers did a pretty good job of touching on the actual events. Me, I'm lookng forward to reaquainting myself with Texas John Slaughter and Andy Burnett in my copious free time.

Ol' Walt certainly was more of a CEO than anti-gun Eisner and the crapheads that came after. Sure wish they'd pull him out of the deep freeze.

Time to dust this off again .

Never saw Elfego Baca. The show looks like the Cisco Kid.

Did you guys notice the "bullets" Disney poured out? Nary a bullet anywhere. He dumped out a keg of BRASS - rifle brass to boot. No surprises in the 500 rounds expended. The vast majority of only ones only go to the range once a year - to qualify! They can hit the side of a barn but I doubt they can hit anything much smaller - at least not on purpose. Remember a couple of years back when NYPD dumped a shed load of ammo and only managed to hit (kill?) a couple of innocent bystanders.
