Hoplophobia Trumps Obama’s Smart Guns Wishes at Consumer Electronics Show

“I never did expect that an industry defining exhibit like the consumer electronics show would not allow us to demo our product with a gun, or worse even with an imitation gun,” Kiyani remarked. “It’s like preventing Google from demoing its Self-Driving Car.” [More]
It's Opposite Day madness as "progressive" policies prevent "progressive" technology from being demonstrated!

A Recommended Honorable Exit Strategy For Ammon Bundy

Therefore, you need to submit yourself to the authority of the Committee of Safety and the people of Harney County at large, and let them know, in no uncertain terms, that they are now in charge, and you will comply with whatever they decide must be done, whether you agree with it or not. [More]
That does appear to be the way to ensure that belief in self-determination is respected.

No One's Talking About Taking Away Your Guns

Yellow Stripe in the Middle of the Road

The deadlock will persist until one of these camps modifies its message and policy platform to draw in the swing nations. Only then can that camp seize full control over the levers of federal power—the White House, the House, and a filibuster-proof Senate majority—to force its will on the opposing nations. Until then, expect continuing frustration and division. [More]
Really?

So you think if "moderates" hold a vote that all those who refuse to surrender must give up and obey, that'll be the last word? And you can't think of anything that might jam up those levers?

I Could Not Raise Money this Way

Sorry, but this just isn't very good -- from the phony forced announcer voice to the breathless narrative, to no compelling story, to stock photos and a script overlay instead of interesting visuals ...  [Watch]

If gun groups are going to compete in this realm, they need to understand that the Bloomberg machine employs the finest professional illusionists money can buy. That shows in the production value quality of the work and the elegant simplicity of the propaganda they're planting in viewer's minds. Forget they're spinning fantasies and lies -- what successful commercials don't?

This screams "on the cheap" because it's obviously targeted solely at a relied-upon segment of gun owners under the same philosophy as hysterical list "fax blast" emails and the like -- while most will ignore it, enough will respond with a donation to make the effort pay off.

The other thing that irritated me enough to comment was this bit of breathless and offensive hyperbole:
If Obama follows through with his executive fiat now, it will lead to the loss of our Second Amendment rights by the time he leaves office.
That is just crap.  No it will not either. Stop talking to gun owners like they're a bunch of goddamn cowardly idiots who will give up as readily as you apparently will.

Stop distracting them from their birthright and the level of commitment it will take to keep it.

It Depends on What the Meaning of the Word 'Support' Is

Now, he's receiving support in some influential circles. The Oath Keepers, which the Southern Poverty Law Center describes as "a fiercely antigovernment, militaristic group," has come out in support of the of the Bundys, with Oath Keepers founder and president Stewart Rhodes posting a passionate letter to the group's website Tuesday. [More]
That "passionate letter" was an urgent warning to keep women and children away after intel had been received that special operations teams might make a move. Further down in the "letter" was this unequivocal statement of position:
Oath Keepers opposes the armed occupation of the Malheur Wildlife Refuge for the reasons already stated here last Friday ...
That's some "support." We see time and again that for "progressives," every day is Opposite Day.

The Stewart Rhodes quote about who "the only people staying there should be" is  intentionally taken out of context. It's not supportive of the takeover, it's protective of the innocents.

Curious the Prozis find that objectionable and extreme.

News.Mic provides a propaganda platform for "progressive" liars. Like their go-to guys at the SPLC, with its own "antigovernment" lie that conveniently ignores the oath being kept...

There Does Seem to Be a Pattern...

Behind the Scenes

Alan Gottlieb, founder and executive vice president of the Second Amendment Foundation based in Bellevue, said he and the gun industry have been working for the past year with suicide-prevention advocates on strategies including safe storage and keeping guns away from criminals and people with mental illness. Are we talking "strategies" or laws?

Why Obama’s Smart Gun Push Will Misfire

Unfortunately for the president and other well-intentioned advocates of electronically enabled gun control, the smart gun, in all of its incarnations, is a fantasy. [More]
I was going to watch the speech but my remote control didn't work, and when I went to go buy new batteries, wouldn't you know it, the garage door opener couldn't have picked a worse time to crap out on me...

When Seconds Count...

As it turns out, ten minutes of 911 call from the mother of the shooting victim give a possible reason. The home invasion, which was carried out on August 6, 2012, in Sharon Connecticut found the victim’s mother zip-tied with her son Luke dead from multiple gunshot wounds pleading with the dispatcher for police and an ambulance for ten minutes. At approximately 6 minutes into the call, she exclaims that ‘she doesn’t have a gun and couldn’t defend herself’ in an audible display of despair.[More]
In other words, they were the true first responders.

On a positive note, CSGV, Everytown, Brady, VPC and every citizen disarming politician out there prefers  this outcome over her dying wish.

Good for the Goose

Of course the guy is a damned and demonstrable liar, but that's not the point to focus on -- it's that usurped powers tolerated from anyone foolishly perceived as "our guy" will be used and expanded by someone not so favored.

White Privilege

As I returned to my seat, White explained why he doesn't especially like the new open carry law. He said he thinks it will cause problems for law enforcement, and he said it could make open-carriers easily identifiable targets for criminals and unlawful shooters. He also said the state, a word which he often sarcastically follows with the phrase "in its infinite wisdom," makes it too easy for people without proper training to legally carry a gun in the first place — people, I thought, like myself.  [More]
Sounds like White could use some remedial education of his own.

A Warning of Sorts

You're a hollow man, "Strinder," a troll, with your pathetic and laughable attempt to infuse uncertainty. Some of you no doubt do, predominantly the militant racist Marxist groups. I'd wager the majority are relying on the "Only Ones" to save them. And candidly, I'd be surprised if you personally are not among those.

Still, thanks for validating that all the "gun in the home makes you X times more likely to kill someone you know" BS your side spouts is just that, at least as far as non-criminal people is concerned.

Aren't We Touchy? Maybe it's Too Much Coffee...

Actress Thandie Newton has publicly confronted Starbucks about a London store display featuring a black figure in a loin cloth and safari hat offering up Colombian coffee beans. [More]
What a struggle life must be for an indignant lottery winner "movie star." Either that or it's better than paying a publicist to get her name out there...

She'd have a stroke if someone added a coffee pot to one of these.

You know who else needs to be called out? These stereotyping hatemongers.

But she's not done reeking of superior humanity:
Newton’s proficiency with a firearm, however, didn’t make her forget her values as a human rights activist. “It was weird, it was kind of a bitter-sweet feeling afterwards, I must admit because I am not proud of being good at doing that, I feel really — I am very well aware of the fact that these weapons have been developed and made for only one thing,” she told Uinterview. “I feel very sad about that. I didn’t want, nor did the show [want to], promote weapons and firearms as being cool. It was absolutely not something that I was comfortable with, that notion for a second. So hopefully, that’s something which the audience will take away, there’s always a consequence to any kind of death or injury in the show.”
There, there, Thandie. This'll make it all better.

'Anti-Government'

Look at how the mass media is infusing that term throughout the culture. Some "reporters" use it out of ignorance, but the ones behind them use it to con an indoctrinated public into believing it about those intent on restoring Constitutional limits.

For "progressives," every day is Opposite Day. Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey...
