Hiatus

Not really, but I know that
upsets the animaladjusted.
I expect to be back around Aug. 7 or thereabouts.  In the interim, comments have been turned off and I ask you to hold off on emails and "social media" contacts.

Two things to watch for in my absence:

  • T.L. Davis will be announcing the release of "Lies of Omission."  Please keep an eye out for it and then help spread the word.
  • GUNS Magazine will be posting my latest "Rights Watch" column. It's called "The Long March," about the recent goose-waddle from Fairfax to DC.

I've unchained feral sons Uday and Qusay and opened the basement door to give them free rein of the redoubt in my absence. I'd better not find a gnawed shin bone like last time.

Defense to Manipulate Jury in Steinle Murder Suspect’s Trial by Blaming Gun

We can't very well have them questioning "sanctuary" policies, can we?  May as well take advantage of that anti-gun ignorance we've been fostering all these years. Good thing none of this has anything to do with that "single issue."

Shall Not Be 'Forbidden'?

"The District’s good-reason law is necessarily a total ban on exercises of that constitutional right for most D.C. residents. That’s enough to sink this law under (the 2008 U.S. Supreme Court’s Heller ruling).” [More]
It's another incremental step in the right direction, but I will still point out that the bar for "infringed" is considerably lower than a "total ban."

Don't expect the legislatures or the courts to acknowledge that unless they have no choice.

Trump’s Communications Pick Invites Legitimate Questions on Principles and Loyalty

Maybe he doesn’t need to have unshakeable beliefs in order to do his job, which, after all, is to come up with excuses, diversions and happy talk to offset a media pretty much doing the same thing to see that the illusions it casts are the ones that prevail. Still, just the fact that communications come down through him makes their credibility susceptible to the type of ridicule now being heaped on the administration by its political and media enemies. [More]
Does “full transparency” mean you can see right through him?

Among other things, including Katie Couric and Christopher Wray, we talked about President Trump's new anti-gun propagandist and why I'm loathe to give him a pass.

Graham Teaming with Durbin on ‘DREAMers’ Endangers Gun Owner Rights

Yet for its part, NRA calls Graham “committed to defending our Right to Keep and Bear Arms.” And because it will not factor politicians’ related actions that undermine that into their grading and endorsement system, most members will never know how betrayal on immigration equates to taking back today’s “good votes” and ensuring tomorrow’s will only be bad ones. Sure, OK, good idea. And while you're at it, audit the Fed.

But there's one more audit you and your cheap labor pals and your political allies have been avoiding, Grover, one that is within your means to perform and one that involves higher ultimate costs.

Audit all credible polls against real world experience in places like California, and then produce credible data – not opinion, not anecdotes, not isolated examples, but something that can be independently validated – demonstrating that “amnesty” and a “pathway to citizenship” for MILLIONS of foreign nationals in this country illegally (and legally, with CURRENT culturally suicidal policies) WILL NOT overwhelmingly favor Democrats and anti-gunners. Show us your sources and methodologies for determining this WILL NOT result in supermajorities in state and federal legislatures that will then be able to pass all kinds of anti-gun edicts.

Show us how this WILL NOT result in nominations and confirmations of judges to the Supreme and federal courts who will uphold those edicts and reverse gains made to date.

If you can't, put on your NRA director hat and explain why a politician's position on an issue that has the potential to eviscerate "legal" recognition of the Second Amendment should not be refelected in grades and endorsements.
