'Militia Terrorism'

Creates crime of militia terrorism. Punishes by maximum of five years’ imprisonment, $125,000 fine, or both. [More]
Firearms Policy Coalition explains.

Those proposing this certainly seem confident their enforcers can make it work. But it sure doesn't make it attractive for those facing such charges to just give up.

I was getting ready to post this and saw a tangentially-related email from WarOnGuns Correspondent Mack H on how some in the conservative mainstream have declared we're in a civil war.

I've been referring to it as a "cold civil war" for years. Looks like the Prozis are bent on heating it up.

If they succeed, I'm not sure they'll be as personally unaffected as they appear to believe.  There are people who have reached the Kennedy conclusion and aren't inclined to just roll over for in-their-faces ultimatums.

Sign of the Times

That's pretty funny. They ought to auction it.

Incidentally, Leo Carrillo was an interesting guy. I'm catching up with old Cisco Kid episodes on Hulu before I fall asleep, so I thought I'd look him up. I also hadn't realized Duncan Renaldo was a soul brother.

Not So Young Turk -- But the Ambition is the Same

“Do you represent the NRA?” asked Representative Gerald Connelly, a Virginia Democrat, his voice rising. “Or do you represent the American people at the ATF? Turk began to answer, but Connelly cut him off. “I represent victims from Virginia Tech,” Connelly said, referencing a 2007 mass shooting at the university. “We buried 6 young people. And I couldn’t explain to them why an ATF … representative might think that legalizing silencers might be a good idea.” [More]
And suppressors had exactly what to do with that, moron?

Aside from the fact that Connelly is a phonily self-righteous career stool sample whose idiotic subversion of 2A all but guarantees future Virginia Techs, I find two other points of interest here:
  • Turk showed up this time.
  • I can't quite figure if he's teaming up with AD Brandon to wag tails and lick the new master's hand, or if he's playing this solo, and if offering concessions is calculated to either propel him from Number Two to Number One -- or to keep him from being caught up in a purge.
UPDATE: Oops.

Not Exactly in Sync with Sun Tzu

All this has become something of a preoccupation for the 53-year-old Mr. Haidt. A longtime liberal—he ran a gun-control group as an undergraduate at Yale—he admits he “had never encountered conservative ideas” until his mid-40s.  [More]
Those who would tear down that on which they're completely ignorant are basically mindless vandals, which pretty much tracks with conclusions by those who have made efforts to understand the enemy.

At least when I engaged in directed destruction of knowledge, I had the basic awareness to know what I was doing, and to rue my role.

Trying to Please the New Master

ATF vows to help Jeff Sessions reduce gun crimes [More]
You can start, "Acting Director" Brandon, by spilling everything you know and giving up names on Gunwalker.

If you're still out of jail, we can discuss how you're going to atone for abetting stonewalling.

In Strawman Use at the Time

Bear arms, eh? OK, now try selling it without observing any regulations, professional liars.

You'd think with all that AstroTurf money, a high-powered ad agency and plenty of free media publicity this piece of crap would have received more than 7,000 views over the past week:

So much for "grassroots" demand. Take advantage of "thumbs down" and commenting before they decide the overwhelming sentiment necessitates removal.

"A native of Germany," eh? Looks like he's got a bit of an industry reputation and then some...

Kiss THAT Job Goodbye

New Orleans police say an Uber driver has shot and wounded one of two men he told authorities had tried to carjack him. [More]
Who's the boss here, anyway? Doesn't this insubordinate realize his "employers" would prefer to see him murdered than armed?

Silver Lining

Holbert and several others including Amy Stephens, the former Republican legislator who led opposition to the bill in 2010 — said the state should not be able to know if people are buying from sites that could raise eyebrows, such as gun-sales websites or sites for cross-dressers. [More]
The again, maybe this bill failing and the law going into effect will wake some people up about those Democrats they have enabled.

Rights-Free Zones

"Concealed carry reciprocity is an attack on local law enforcement, and an attack on local laws ... The same laws that apply to rural areas should not apply to urban areas with millions of people and thousands of police." [More]
Absolutely! It's not like there's a "supreme Law of the Land" or anything. Besides, what did Dear Leader say about Chicago and Cheyenne?

So out with free speech. And being secure in your person and effects. And how can you self-incriminate if you're not doing anything wrong?

Ditto with "cruel and unusual punishment." And equal protection. And due process...

Oh, and while we're tightening the iron grip on OUR home, we're also coming after yours. You didn't think protestations over "home rule" meant anything besides ruling all homes, did you?

Vance and "Der" Feuer. Figures.

Bite the hand! [More]

Couldn't happen to a more deserving "progressive" bunch.

We're the Only Ones Disarmed Enough

Harold Jordan, a senior policy advocate for the ACLU of Pennsylvania, penned an op-ed for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Thursday, which was reposted on the ACLU’s main website Friday, that said cops stationed at Pittsburgh city schools should be forced to continue working without sidearms. [More]
True, Harold Jordan is a special kind of subversive idiot, but my main concern is with such restrictions applying to me. Still, all you "us vs. themmers," what have I been telling you about Polyphemus all these years?

Coming Soon, to a Reichstag Near You

Germany's Cabinet on Wednesday approved a new bill that punishes social networking sites if they fail to swiftly remove illegal content such as hate speech or defamatory fake news. [More]
And seeing as how and by whom those smears are determined and leveled, they can basically shut down the dissemination of all unapproved thought  -- just like the good old days.

And the domestic National Socialists call us the Nazis...

Exclusive: Supreme Irony

Whether their instincts will better serve their followers this time is something we’ll need to wait and see. It’s probably safe to assume Gorsuch will prove head and shoulders above anyone Hillary Clinton would have sponsored, and in that sense, his nomination already gives gun owners a victory of sorts. His confirmation, and by the time you read this, he will have been confirmed (barring something astoundingly unforeseeable), will prove whether faith placed in him was informed or merely desperate. And noting appointments are for a lifetime we should have many opportunities to either rejoice in or curse his placement on the bench. [More]
My latest GUNS Magazine "Rights Watch" column notes some ironies on both sides, and expresses a mix of hopes and fears.

Their Own Petard is Waiting

Orwellian algorithms of Google and Facebook put us on 'slippery slope of censorship' [More]
And it's not just the algorithms.

Well, "progressives" are the ones who gave us antitrust, collusion and restraint of trade laws...

One follower @_boyafraid_ wrote, “So you have lost a follower, and worst, an admirer”... [More]
Talk about an aptonym.

And note he didn't say "customer."
